Model code of conduct should be imposed on Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) as its term has already expired, a prominent Sikh leader demanded today.
"SGPC is largely known as mini parliament of Sikhs and as the term of its elected representatives has already expired, the present committee has no right to take any policy decision," president of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) Simaranjit Singh Maan told reporters here.

A FAITH trail has been launched in Huddersfield to give locals the chance to explore main religious sites.
The one-and-a-half mile pedestrian-friendly route offers an exploration of five local cultural treasures.
These are Huddersfield Parish Church on Byram Street, the Methodist Mission on Lord Street, Guru Nanak Gurdwara on Prospect Street, Jamia Usman Masjid mosque on Upper George Street and St Patrick's Church on New North Road.

In what could be a push to the "Kartarpur corriodor movement", the US-based Institute for Multi-Track Diplomacy (IMTD) is busy preparing a blueprint for the "peace corridor" between India and Pakistan to link Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib in Narowal district of Pakistan with Indian territory.
The IMTD, an NGO set up by John W McDonalid and Dr Louise Diamond, is busy enrolling engineers, architects and businessmen from India, Pakistan and the US for the project.

W hen he was elected leader of the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara – one of the largest and wealthiest Sikh temples in Canada, and definitely the most controversial – Bikramjit Singh Sandhar was up all night, meditating and reciting prayers with a circle of friends.
The Sikh leader, who bristles at the term "fundamentalist" but whose young slate of candidates was considered very conservative, kept to his practice of saying prayers, which he does three times every day.

On Friday we hosted a reception commemorating the 540 th anniversary of the birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first guru in Sikhism.
It was the first time that this holiday has ever been celebrated at the White House.
Members of the Sikh community from around the country were invited to celebrate the occasion with traditional hymns led by the Sikh Kirtani Chanters from the Golden Temple in Amritsar, India.

Under the aegis of the Institute for Multi-Track Diplomacy (IMTD), the US based NGO is preparing a blueprint for the 'peace corridor' between India and Pakistan in order to support the safe and easy passage of pilgrims to Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib.
Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib is situated in Pakistan's Narowal District, where Guru Nanak spent more than 18 years of his life.
Sikh pilgrims have been demanding a safe passage to the Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib from Dera Baba Nanak for years.
